About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and driven Defence Operations Centre Manager to lead our 24/7 WA Defence Operations Centre.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall performance, efficiency, and leadership of the WA Defence Operations Centre team.

The WA DOD Operations Centre is a mission-critical hub that oversees scheduling, workforce planning, communication, fleet logistics, and compliance for the Wilson Security Department of Defence WA region.

This is a high-impact role that requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on operational oversight to ensure the effective management of workforce planning, logistics coordination, financial compliance, and service delivery across multiple Defence sites in the WA region.

The Defence Operations Centre Manager will work closely with the Regional Security Manager to develop and implement strategies to drive operational excellence and improve customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate will have exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Operations & Workforce Planning:
  • Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the 24/7 WA DOD Operations Centre.
  • Ensure efficient staffing, rostering, and workforce planning to maintain operational continuity.
  • Oversee travel, accommodation, fleet logistics, and workforce deployment.
  • Ensure all contractual, SSIA compliance, and service delivery targets are met.
  • Monitor and report on contractual service hours and operational performance metrics.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Operations Centre Operators.
  • Conduct staff performance reviews, training, and development initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Ensure adherence to operational procedures, KPIs, and compliance requirements.

Fleet & Logistics Coordination:

  • Manage fleet operations, including scheduling services, vehicle maintenance, and operational readiness.
  • Oversee the allocation, compliance, and cost-effectiveness of fleet resources.
  • Ensure all vehicle assets are fit for purpose and in accordance with operational needs.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Track and report on operational performance, dropped shifts, overtime, and cost efficiencies.
  • Provide data-driven insights and workforce trend analysis to senior management.
  • Oversee payroll query resolution, resource allocation, and workforce compliance.

Compliance & Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, Defence contractual obligations, and legislative standards.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for operational concerns, service delivery issues, and compliance risks.
  • Maintain current risk assessments and hazard controls across the Operations Centre.
