Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced veterinarian to join our team as an Animal Welfare Specialist. This part-time position will involve working two days per week across our Gympie and Noosa Shelters.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide High-Quality Veterinary Care: Ensure the provision of excellent medical and surgical care to all animals presented to the clinic, adhering to high standards of quality and safety.
- Maintain Accurate Medical Records: Ensure that comprehensive and accurate medical records are maintained for all patients, facilitating effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Foster Strong Communication: Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders through effective communication, ensuring seamless collaboration and problem-solving.
- Supervise Veterinary Students: Assist in supervising and mentoring veterinary students, promoting their professional growth and development.
- Contribute to Training and Development: Participate in training programs for Animal Rescue Officers and Veterinary Nurses, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Promote Good Welfare Outcomes: Work collaboratively to achieve good welfare outcomes for each animal, upholding the values and principles of the RSPCA QLD.
- Attend Meetings and Events: Regularly attend veterinary team and general staff meetings, as well as participate in approved research projects and RSPCA events.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Degree in Veterinary Science registerable in Queensland
- Minimum of three years' general veterinary experience
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure in a high-volume environment
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to establish solutions for complex problems and work autonomously
- Flexibility and adaptability
- Genuine interest in animal welfare and the objectives of RSPCA Qld
- Ability to perform physical duties, including manual handling, and handle a minimum weight of 10 kilos

This part-time position comes with a competitive salary of $120,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. The role is based on the Sunshine Coast, with regular travel between our Gympie and Noosa Shelters.
