About the Role

The Department of Education, Western Australia is seeking a dedicated and experienced teacher to join our Specialised Learning Program - Autism (SLP-A) team at Kelmscott Senior High School.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality education and support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) without a diagnosed intellectual disability. You will work closely with the Program Coordinator, education assistants, mainstream teachers, and other school stakeholders to develop and implement individualised learning plans that cater to the unique needs of our students.

We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and has a strong commitment to evidence-based practice and pedagogy. You will be responsible for creating a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters academic growth, social-emotional development, and overall well-being for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualised learning plans that cater to the unique needs of students with ASD
  • Work closely with the Program Coordinator and education assistants to provide high-quality education and support to students
  • Collaborate with mainstream teachers and other school stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor and review student progress, making adjustments to learning plans as needed
  • Communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment
Requirements
  • Hold a valid teaching qualification and registration with the Western Australian College of Teaching
  • Have experience working with students with ASD and a strong understanding of evidence-based practice and pedagogy
  • Be able to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with parents, students, and staff
  • Have a strong commitment to inclusive education and a passion for working with students with diverse needs
