Job Overview

This role is responsible for managing daily library operations and providing exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. Key responsibilities include rostering, supervising, and assisting library staff to ensure quality control of circulation procedures and workload distribution.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our team in frontline services. The successful candidate will have a Diploma of Librarian and Information Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience. Relevant experience in a library or customer service environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily library operations, including rostering and supervising library staff
  • Assist with the development and delivery of promotional, youth support, outreach, and other programs to increase awareness of library services
  • Lead the Library when the Team Leader is absent, including opening and closing the library, handling monies, and liaising with contractors and council areas
  • Provide advice and support to Senior Library Officers across the network for problem-solving and escalated issues

Requirements:

  • Diploma of Librarian and Information Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Relevant experience in a library or customer service environment
  • Ability to undertake regular weekend work (any 5 in 7 days)
  • Current Blue Card and First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with initiative and sound judgment
