Lead Capital Projects Engineer

Are you a seasoned engineer with the drive to deliver capital projects? We are seeking an experienced Lead Capital Projects Engineer to join our team at Alcoa's Wagerup refinery.

Job Description:

As the Lead Capital Projects Engineer, you will provide technical direction and leadership for Alcoa's capital projects. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the owner's team to develop cost-effective solutions that meet well-defined problem or opportunity statements
  • Ensuring stakeholders understand and contribute to project progress during the front-end loading phase
  • Managing issues that may cause delays or cost overruns
  • Facilitating longer-term opportunities for improvement through knowledge sharing and resource development
  • Delivering timely and cost-effective project outcomes by meeting business needs

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an engineering field coupled with relevant experience in project management
  • At least 5 years of engineering design experience in brownfields installations
  • Business and customer focus perspective and appreciation of engineering alliance type relationships
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including previous supervisory experience

Alcoa's Wagerup Refinery is one of the world's most environmentally and technologically advanced alumina refineries. It produces approximately 2.9 million metric tons of alumina each year. Located approximately 150 kilometres south of Perth, it is situated on the border of WA's picturesque Peel and South West regions.
