
Mental Health Recovery Specialist

This role involves improving outcomes for workers with mental injuries, working in partnership with claims operational teams and Client Services to deliver a proactive service focused on recovery and return to work.
- Implement our person-centred Mental Injury Recovery & Return to Work strategy, focusing on support for workers and employers.
- Collaborate to make recommendations that improve recovery and return to work outcomes for workers with primary and secondary mental injury.
- Facilitate meetings with claim stakeholders (treating health practitioners, injured workers, and employers) to support recovery and achieve safe and sustainable return to work.
- Provide oversight of mental injury recovery and return to work outcome trends, informing the development of RTW reporting and analytics that drives performance improvement.
- Analyse and identify key risks and challenges, as well as mitigation strategies or escalation strategies.
- Influence claims outcomes for workers and employers through active contribution to case management activity.
- Ongoing coaching and training for case manager and specialist staff on mental injury and specific recovery needs of individuals.
- Strong injury management capabilities with focus on return to work, mental health, medically complex cases, or fatalities.
- Demonstrated experience in mental health injury management, particularly high-risk significant injury claims.
- Excellent understanding of relevant statutory acts and associated regulations and guidelines.
- Strong stakeholder communication and negotiation skills.
- Insurance/workers insurance experience highly advantageous.
- Tertiary studies in Allied Health (Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, or Exercise Science) advantageous.
- Mental health first aid certificate ideal.
