Project Cost Manager

We are seeking an experienced Cost Controller to join our team, providing support to the site team on various projects. This position will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring project costs, ensuring alignment with approved budgets, and collaborating closely with the Project Controls and Execution teams to achieve project objectives.
This role is based in Perth and follows a Monday to Friday work schedule; however, periodic site visits may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and submission of monthly Value of Work Done (VOWD) reports to stakeholders
- Support tracking and managing variation costs and procurement commitments against budgets
- Evaluate and ensure all costs and time are booked to the correct cost code and under correct CTR
- Track and analyze materials, plant, tooling, and equipment costs against budget
- Conduct regular audits to verify and adjust cost entries in financial systems
- Review time allocations by offsite resources and coordinate approvals
- Initial vetting of incoming invoices for correct coding and matching to purchase orders
- Support Financial Analyst with the creation of Contractors monthly invoice, and all supporting data
- Reconciliation of timesheet data against mobilisation records to ensure billing accuracy
- Prepare, revise, and communicate cost control procedures as necessary
- Cost control, forecasting, and analysis against the Work Order requirements
- Running commitment reports to monitor and adjust any outstanding commitments
- Monitor project budgets and report weekly on the status of commitment highlighting any potential risk
- Lead the project cost attribution with regard to month-end financial close processes, timely invoice processing and raising, accruals and cost transfers, monitoring and reviewing aged accruals, monthly financial performance monitoring/reporting, undertaking variance analysis and advising stakeholders on financial risks
About You:
To excel in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in project controls, including at least 2 years as a Cost Controller, within a commercial environment and/or change management role in relevant operations
- Knowledge of financial management systems
- A proven track record of being responsible, flexible, and an excellent communicator
- A strong understanding of industry standards and best practices relevant to the project
