About the role

This is a leadership position that provides therapeutic care and a safe, supportive environment for children and young people.

The Therapeutic Care Leader plays a key role in fostering a nurturing, stable environment that promotes healing, development, and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing therapeutic care and maintaining a safe, supportive environment for children and young people.
  • Leading, mentoring, and guiding a team of Child and Youth Support Workers to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care.
  • Overseeing daily operations, including care planning, rostering, reporting, and ensuring compliance with practice standards.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a calm, caring leader who builds strong, respectful relationships and supports teams through daily challenges.

You will also need to have a trauma-informed, child-centred approach and create safe, nurturing spaces where young people feel at home.

In addition, you will need to be organised, adaptable, and confident in balancing care and operational tasks.

Essential skills and experience

You will need to have a Cert IV in Youth Work, Community Services, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, or Disability (in conjunction with relevant experience).

You will also need to have experience working with children and young people with complex needs and trauma backgrounds.

Proficient computer skills are also required, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and database management.
