Penguin Care Specialist

Assisting in maintaining presentation standards of the Penguin Encounter exhibit and undertaking animal husbandry and exhibit maintenance tasks for the Antarctic penguins are key responsibilities.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Assist with presentation standards of the Penguin Encounter exhibit, including snow blows, ice cleaning, and removal.
  • Develop an understanding of animal training and conditioning techniques and behavioral enrichment to maintain appropriate behavioral management of penguins.
  • Perform relevant education talks and interactive tours to provide an educational experience to guests and students.

Requirements include:

  • Previous experience with preventative health, behavioral management, enrichment, and husbandry of animals in professional care.
  • Bachelor of Science degree or Certificate III in Captive Animal Management.
  • Able to work in cool environments ranging from -1.0C to +10.0C.
  • A level of fitness required to complete all tasks in assigned area.
  • Available to work on any day, including weekends.
