About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Fitter to join our industrial maintenance team in a hands-on environment.

This casual ongoing position offers a competitive hourly rate, with the potential for permanent employment based on performance.

You'll work closely with a dedicated team and play a crucial role in maintaining plant machinery, performing welding duties, and contributing to major projects across different departments within the plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance & Repairs: Perform operational maintenance on machines, parts, and fluid power equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Fabrication & Assembly: Fit fabricated parts and assemble them to production machines and equipment.
  • Welding: Execute MIG, TIG, and other welding methods as required, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Installation & Setup: Assist with the installation and setup of new machines and equipment, following established procedures.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Deliver proactive preventative maintenance in consultation with internal stakeholders to minimize downtime.
  • Documentation: Collaborate with the Plant Manager to review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for routine work onsite, ensuring compliance and best practices.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Engineering Supervisor and contribute to major projects on-site, fostering a culture of teamwork and open communication.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be physically fit to work across multiple departments and handle maintenance of production equipment, adhering to health and safety protocols.

What You'll Bring:

  • Tertiary Qualifications: A Fitter and Turner trade qualification is essential, demonstrating your expertise in industrial maintenance.
  • Welding Experience: Possess a strong background in MIG/TIG welding techniques, enabling you to execute complex welds efficiently.
  • Forklift License: Having a forklift license is advantageous, but not necessary, as we can support you in obtaining one if needed.
  • Experience: Previous experience in industrial or plant maintenance is desirable, showcasing your ability to adapt to different environments.
  • Safety Consciousness: Prioritize safety above all else, recognizing the importance of a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
  • Problem Solving & Initiative: Demonstrate process-driven thinking, focusing on continuous improvement and troubleshooting complex issues with ease.
  • Communication Skills: Possess strong written and verbal communication abilities, enabling effective collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Physically Fit: Meet the physical demands of the role, including passing a medical, drug, and alcohol test before commencing.
