Job Title: Healthcare Communication Specialist

About the Role:

Austin Health seeks a highly experienced NAATI Certified Interpreter and Translator to join our Language Services Department. This is a part-time role, working 30 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide high-quality interpreting and translating services for Vietnamese-speaking patients and Austin Health staff.
  2. Maintain accurate statistics of interpreting work undertaken.
  3. Adhere to the standards of the Language Services Department as outlined in the Austin Interpreter Guidelines and Protocols.
  4. Promote ongoing education and learning for all Austin Health staff and patients regarding interpreting services.
  5. Work collaboratively with Austin Health staff to ensure a timely and effective service in keeping with Austin Health values.

Essential Requirements:

  1. Only NAATI Certified Interpreters will be considered. Certified provisional interpreters with medical experience may also be considered.
  2. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  3. Experience in working in a health service.
  4. Excellent organisational skills.
  5. Able to work as part of a team.
