As a vital part of our operations team, the Network Operator will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient flow of traffic and effective management of incidents across our high-speed road and tunnel network in South East Queensland.

This dynamic individual will utilize advanced technology to optimize traffic flow, coordinate responses to incidents, and collaborate with various teams to ensure safe and timely travel.

The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure, and proficiency in using computer programs and IT systems.

A high level of written and verbal communication skills, as well as attention to detail and ability to prepare reports, are essential for this role.

Flexibility to work during peak periods and a valid driver's license are also required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Optimize traffic flow and manage incidents utilizing integrated Operations Management Control System (IOMCS)
  • Coordinate traffic response, manage ITS devices, and liaise with service providers for network performance
  • Collaborate with Operations teams to ensure efficient traffic flow, safe travel, and effective incident management
  • Facilitate maintenance issue management, respond to alarms or alerts, and disseminate information to relevant teams
  • Maintain required certifications and complete refresher training to demonstrate job proficiency
  • Prepare reports of incidents or events following established procedures and KPIs
  • Ensure accurate recording of road network conditions and hazards, providing complete handover information to oncoming shifts
Requirements
  • Quick thinking and resourcefulness to manage incidents and resources under pressure
  • Knowledge in traffic operations, including concepts, practices, and procedures involved in managing open road and tunnel assets
  • Experience in emergency management practices
  • Proficient use of standard computer programs and ability to learn unique IT systems quickly
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented professional with demonstrated experience in preparing reports
  • Flexibility to work hours during peak workload demands as required
  • A current driver's license and transportation to our control room sites
