Technical Specialist for Diagnostic Services

We are seeking a highly skilled Pathology Technician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing technical support to medical scientists and contributing to the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services.
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical assistance to medical scientists, maintaining a high standard of technical work, and ensuring laboratory cleanliness. They will also provide out-of-hours support to Molecular Medicine as required.
In this role, you will apply conventional practices, methods, and standards in molecular diagnostics under the general technical direction and supervision of scientific staff. You will perform all functions associated with specimen receipt and processing into the laboratory, including logging pathological specimens and results, and verifying completeness of information.
You will receive, direct, and handle general telephone enquiries with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality. You will generate work lists, labels, daybooks, statistics, and any other laboratory information as required.
You will prepare and maintain chemicals, reagents, stains, and consumable items, including placing orders with offsite suppliers as authorized by the Medical Scientist in Charge.
Required Skills and Qualifications- An Associate Diploma from a recognized tertiary institution or an equivalent qualification appropriate to the nature of the work
- Knowledge and expertise consistent with qualifications recognized at Certificate III and IV or equivalent level
Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role, and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment.
