Job Description

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced and autonomous Emergency Medicine Consultant to lead a multi-disciplinary team in providing exceptional emergency care to the community.

The successful candidate will have a strong sense of cultural sensitivity, respectfulness, and diplomacy. They will be curious about indigenous health and passionate about its challenges.

The Kalgoorlie Health Campus is a recently revitalised 106-bed general inpatient facility and the second largest regional public hospital in Western Australia. It services more than 50,000 residents of Kalgoorlie-Boulder as well as outlying towns, and rural and remote communities in the Goldfields region.

The Emergency Department operates 24/7 with a rotating roster that includes day, evening, and late shifts, along with on-call coverage to ensure continuous emergency services.

  • You will lead, support, and educate multi-disciplinary teams consisting of Senior Medical Practitioners, Junior Medical Officers, nursing staff, administrative staff, and support staff.
  • You will collaborate with organisations like the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the Rural Clinical School of Western Australia, and the WACHS Command Centre to manage unique cases presented and deliver exceptional emergency care to the community.

Opportunities for progression, including the potential advancement to the role of Head of Department, are available for driven candidates who excel in this position.

Requirements

Applicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABEM certified) or New Zealand.
