Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to advance your career in a collaborative, supportive and quality-focused environment. You will work as part of a team on a comprehensive range of routine testing, further developing your genomics knowledge and skills.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Working collaboratively with the team, you will be responsible for specimen preparation, analysis and reporting of referrals by cytogenomic and/or molecular technologies.
  • You will perform designated testing procedures as outlined in methods and procedures, ensuring adherence to NPAAC/NATA ISO15189 requirements.
  • Participation in internal and external quality assurance programs is essential.
  • Continuing education is encouraged and supported.
  • You will liaise with stakeholders regarding test results or referrals as necessary.
  • Collaboration with clinical laboratory members to develop, validate, and implement genomic assays into a diagnostic setting, as per NPAAC/NATA ISO15189 requirements.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in cytogenomic and/or molecular genetic testing would be advantageous.
  • Recognised professional qualification in Clinical Cytogenetics or molecular genomics is desirable.
  • A high level of attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and accountability are essential.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills are required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • You must be able to work as part of a collaborative team and contribute to team performance.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance systems and scientific instrumentation and equipment is beneficial.
  • Awareness of Workplace Health and Safety processes and procedures is important.
