Job Title: Border Security Specialist

 

  • This role involves working as a federal law enforcement officer, responsible for protecting the nation's borders from illegal activities.
  • You will be part of an elite team of highly trained professionals who work together to safeguard America’s borders.
  • Your duties will include detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws, inspecting documents and possessions, and preventing undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens at or near the borders.
  • You will also be required to perform farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks, as well as patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various government assets.

 

About This Role:

 

  • To be eligible for this position, you must possess one year of general work experience that demonstrates your ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations.
  • You may also qualify based on education substitution, with a bachelor’s degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • For this position, you must possess one year of specialized work experience that shows you have the skills necessary to make sound judgments and decisions in the use of firearms, deal effectively with people in a courteous and tactful manner, and analyze information rapidly.
  • Education substitution includes a bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement, which is based on class standing, grade-point average, or honor society membership.
  • You may also qualify based on a combination of experience and education.

 

Requirements:

 

  • You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
  • You must have had primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
  • Candidates must be referred for selection to this position before reaching their 40th birthday.
  • Veterans' preference may also be eligible for an excepted service Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA).
