Mental Health Support Worker Role

Job Description:

Our organization offers a trusted mental health and disability service to support individuals in gaining independence. The role involves providing residential or outreach support for people with dual diagnosis and challenging behaviors, working as part of a team to achieve common goals.

This is a SCHADS Level 3 position with competitive hourly rates and additional benefits.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you must be passionate about improving the lives of those living with mental disorders. You need to have strong communication skills, emotional resilience, and the ability to adapt to challenges under pressure.

Key attributes we are looking for include:

  • Previous experience in supporting individuals with mental health needs, especially in managing challenging behaviors.
  • Demonstrates patience, effective listening skills, and adaptable communication techniques.
  • Able to advocate for others and develop sustainable support networks.
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in using IT systems on computer and mobile platforms.

The role entails:

  • Providing support to consumers in their own homes and community settings.
  • Meeting individual needs according to established behavioral support plans.

  • Providing accurate case notes for consistency in support.
  • Supporting consumers to work towards their individual goals.
