Perth Children's Hospital and Neonatology (PCH&N) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Co-Director to join our esteemed team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of statewide paediatric healthcare initiatives, systems, and services.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide effective medical leadership in clinical governance, safety, quality improvement, strategic planning, optimal resource allocation, and reform.
- Provide mentorship and support for Heads of Department and foster collaboration between clinicians and across departments and divisions for the safe and effective care of patients and families.
- Manage clinical demand, understand workload and workforce pressures, and issues, and further our aim to grow and foster our exceptional workforce of highly skilled professionals.
- Support the development of advance practice nursing roles and of junior medical roles to build the next generation of professionals and support them in their growth, ensuring evidence-based practice and research drive clinical advancements.
- Ensure safe and high-quality standards of clinical practice and the management of clinical and corporate risk, including coordination of education and training for medical staff to meet accreditation standards.
- Provide mentorship and support to staff, fostering a culture of patient safety and family-centred care.
- Ensure business continuity management and emergency planning for the division.
- Continuing to develop collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across public and private sectors, universities, professional colleges, non-government agencies, as well as health at the State and National Level, representing the service unit's goals positively and effectively.
- Prior experience in professional clinical leadership and management of clinical services in a large complex acute health service.
- Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia is a requirement for this role.
Our dedicated teams provide state-wide tertiary/quaternary level specialist care to children aged 0–16 years, encompassing inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and specialized services. We are committed to advancing medical knowledge through research and education, and as a teaching institution, we are affiliated with medical schools and offer clinical placements for students, and training programs for prevocational and vocational trainees, fellows, and other healthcare professionals.
We actively participate in community outreach programs, health education initiatives, and advocacy efforts. By tailoring care to individual needs and promoting family-centred approaches, we strive to improve patient outcomes and enhance the quality of paediatric care through clinical trials, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
