The Safety and Security Equipment Coordinator plays a pivotal role in supporting the Correctional Centre management team by providing expertise on the procurement, storage, handling, maintenance, disposal, and document control of weapons, ammunition, keys, tools, and safety and security equipment. This involves collaborating with service and contract providers to ensure seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the appropriate storage of weapons, ammunition, chemical agents, keys, and safety and security equipment, including registers that detail procurement, issue, and disposal.
  • Ensure accurate documentation relevant to the purchase and storage of weapons, ammunition, chemical agents, keys, and safety and security equipment.
  • Coordinate the issue and receipt of weapons, ammunition, chemical agents, keys, and safety and security equipment.
  • Implement procedures for maintaining weapons, ammunition, chemical agents, keys, and safety and security equipment according to established guidelines.
  • Develop and manage departmental processes for key access and use within the correctional centre to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Collaborate with the Correctional Manager, Centre Services to identify and manage risks through escalating issues to the appropriate centre manager.
  • Oversee the procurement, storage, handling, maintenance, and disposal of weapons, ammunition, chemical agents, safety and security equipment, and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure operational readiness and administration of safety and security equipment, correctional service facility armouries, and secure storage facilities as required.
