Careers Guidance Professional

The Careers Guidance Professional plays a pivotal role in our career services team, leading and collaborating on all aspects of the careers service.

Key responsibilities include facilitating student placements into various career development opportunities, managing and delivering careers services, resources, events, and workshops.

Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver expert guidance to higher education students through one-to-one consultations.
  2. Assist students in identifying their strengths, interests, and goals to develop personalized career plans.
  3. Organize and facilitate events and workshops on resume writing, interview techniques, networking, and industry-specific topics.
  4. Develop and maintain partnerships with external event providers and promote external career enrichment events and activities to students.
  5. Establish and nurture relationships with industry partners to facilitate internship and job placement opportunities.
  6. Collaborate with academic staff to integrate career development activities into the curriculum.
  7. Track and monitor student careers activity, testimonies, and uptake of services.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in client-facing environments developing and maintaining professional networks.
  • Proven ability to deliver and facilitate events, guest speaker discussions, and/or workshops.
  • Excellent relationship management skills with a proven track record of brokering positive outcomes.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and manage activities with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • A self-starter with a professional image who possesses accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in careers education, business, or human resources (desired).
