Veterinary Nurse

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate In-Patient Care Nurse to join our team at Southpaws Specialty, Emergency & Referral Hospital. As a key member of our surgery department, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional preoperative and postoperative care to our hospitalized surgery patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend morning handover and review updates on surgery inpatients.
- Assist with tasks for surgery inpatients, including radiographs, blood work, and sedation.
- Communicate patient concerns or status changes to case owners.
- Prioritize care for current hospitalized patients, ensuring timely medication and treatment.
- Assist with new admissions, including labeling cages and starting IVs.
- Support diagnostics and minor procedures, such as x-rays and dressing changes.
- Maintain a clean and organized ward environment, including patient cages and supplies.
- Prepare patients for discharge, ensuring they are clean and all equipment is properly removed or placed.
Requirements:
- Certificate IV or equivalent qualification.
- 3-4 years' experience in a similar role.
- Professional and positive demeanor.
- Ability to work efficiently with initiative in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of veterinary nursing procedures.
- Proficiency in monitoring anesthesia.
- Ability to work a rotating roster, including weekends and on-call shifts.
