Key Role in Australia's Biosecurity

Job Description:

As a dedicated member of the biosecurity team, you will play a critical role in protecting Australia from biological threats. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the safe and secure movement of people, goods, and services across our borders.

Conducting thorough risk assessments and implementing effective mitigation strategies will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will also provide expert advice to stakeholders on complex biosecurity matters, fostering strong relationships and promoting a culture of compliance.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead complex risk assessments and develop targeted mitigation strategies to safeguard Australia's biosecurity.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to share best practices and promote a culture of compliance.
  • Provide expert advice on biosecurity matters, leveraging your knowledge to drive informed decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships, fostering trust and cooperation among diverse stakeholders.

Ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

Requirements:
  • Hold and maintain a valid Australian motor vehicle driver's licence.
  • Participate in an on-call roster and be available to perform duty outside standard hours.
  • Perform occasional out-of-hours and weekend work.
  • Wear an official uniform supplied by the department during field operations.
  • Wear appropriate protective personal equipment and clothing to comply with departmental Work Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete the department's Biosecurity Foundation Program and meet the minimum requirements to be appointed as a Biosecurity Officer under the Biosecurity Act 2015.
