Looking for a challenging career opportunity in bioinformatics? We are seeking an experienced Senior Bioinformatics Specialist to join our team.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing bioinformatics analysis workflows and pipelines, providing training and support in the use of bioinformatics software tools, and maintaining a current knowledge of computational and information technologies required in medical scientific bioinformatics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing and implementing effective analysis pipelines for analysing large genomic datasets.
  • Providing expert advice on the use of bioinformatics tools and techniques.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of emerging trends and advancements in bioinformatics.
  • Developing and delivering training programs for colleagues on bioinformatics software tools and techniques.
  • Ensuring bioinformatic analysis performed is compliant with accreditation requirements and best practice.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's Degree (PhD desirable) in Molecular Biology, Computational Biology or Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or training.
  • A strong foundation in bioinformatics principles, proficiency in programming languages like Python or R.
  • Demonstrated understanding of 2nd and 3rd generation sequencing lab technologies as it applies to the life sciences.
  • High level of oral and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with client groups, scientists and support staff and to work collaboratively in a team environment.

This role offers a highly competitive salary package, including a remuneration of $89,000 – $96,000 plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.
