About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Lead in Design to spearhead our sustainability efforts across the business and engineering function. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team focused on integrating environmentally responsible practices into the design process to ensure safe, sustainable, and future-focused solutions for South Australia's water infrastructure.

This role requires a strong passion for creating a positive environmental impact and driving sustainable design excellence. As a Sustainability Lead in Design, you will be responsible for leading a high-performing team of sustainability, safety, and engineering experts, fostering an open, collaborative, and innovative culture to achieve business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of the Sustainability in Design (SuiD) process across the organisation, promoting safety, sustainability, and environmental responsibility.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure design projects align with sustainability policies and long-term targets.
  • Oversee the development and integration of processes, tools, and techniques for enhancing sustainability in design.
  • Provide expert advice and support across capital projects, ensuring alignment with safety and sustainability standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in sustainable design practices to drive service excellence within the team and across the organisation.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or a related discipline).
  • Demonstrated expertise in sustainable design principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of WHS regulations and a commitment to integrating safety in design.
  • Proven experience in leadership, with the ability to inspire and build high-performing teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and a strong ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams both internal and external.
  • Strong technical writing and reporting capabilities, with a focus on professional and timely documentation.
