About the Role

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced CAD Engineer and Surveyor to work on a range of engineering projects, including wind farm, hydroelectric power plant, and solar and battery site design. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and designing 2D and 3D engineering drawings, surveying SSE Renewables dams, and producing 2D and 3D surveys to aid production of drawings and/or advise engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and prepare 2D and 3D engineering drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and Civil 3D to provide accurate and quality information to inform key projects and influence operational decisions.
  • Conduct surveying activities, including processing survey results to record potential movements and spotting errors and trends.
  • Produce 2D and 3D surveys to aid production of drawings and/or advise engineering teams within SSE Renewables of key features, movements, or levels.
  • Develop 3D models of wind farms, solar and battery sites, and hydroelectric power plants, incorporating them into existing systems such as BIM models, GIS, and point cloud surveys to assist in the creation of a digital twin.

Requirements

  • A minimum of HNC level in an appropriate engineering discipline and ideally, but not essential, working towards professional accreditation or already has an ICE EngTech professional membership or similar.
  • Commercial focus with first-class IT skills, proficient in 2D & 3D drafting using AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent drawing packages.
  • Experience of standard surveying practices, using total stations, GNSS (GPS), and digital/optical levels would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight as part of this role, holding a full valid driving license.
