Health Promotion Officer Role

This is a challenging and rewarding position that plays a vital role in improving community health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide education and support services to individuals who inject drugs, promoting their health and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with the WSLHD Needle and Syringe Program Team to deliver health care services for prevention and care of blood-borne viruses among injecting drug users.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Community Services or equivalent.
  • Understanding of Harm Minimisation principles.
  • Knowledge of blood-borne viruses such as HIV, HCV and HBV.
  • Ability to work non-judgmentally and empathetically with people who inject drugs.
  • Understanding of Health Promotion and Community Development concepts.
  • Capacity to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience working with marginalized groups within a Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) or similar service.
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence and willingness to travel to different sites as required.
