The General Manager - Digital and Cloud Technology Role

This exciting role involves leading our organisation's digital technology business, overseeing the architecture, solutioning, engineering, and development of key digital programs. As General Manager, you'll be responsible for providing strategic direction, leading cross-functional teams, and developing long-term technology roadmaps.

You'll work closely with the Chief Technology Officer, reporting to them and being part of the Executive-sponsored Extended Leadership Team. This role requires a commercial mindset, ensuring critical decisions are made in the best interest of the business.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic direction for the digital and cloud technology portfolio.
  • Lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Design and execute long-term technology roadmaps for cloud solutions, digital products, and services.

Delivering Projects and Managing Budgets:

  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality, on-time digital and cloud technology projects.
  • Evaluate and recommend buy vs build solutions to meet business and customer requirements.
  • Drive cost-effective project execution, maintaining quality and performance.
  • Establish and maintain clear project governance, defining processes and checkpoints for successful delivery, risk mitigation, and budget control.
  • Report regularly on project status, financial performance, and resource allocation to senior leadership.

Excellence in Engineering and Development:

  • Champion a culture of engineering excellence, promoting efficient, scalable, and sustainable development processes.
  • Promote best practices in cloud technologies, software engineering, and relevant development methodologies.
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, recommending innovative solutions to enhance business operations, user experience, and scalability.
  • Establish robust performance metrics, driving continuous improvement in team performance, operational efficiency, and product quality.

Building High-Performing Teams:

  • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing team of engineers, developers, and technical leaders.
  • Guide career development, technical skill enhancement, and leadership opportunities for team members.
  • Ensure the team is well-equipped with the latest tools and technologies.

Engaging Stakeholders:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, vendors, and technology providers.
