Music Instructor

The Northern Territory Music School in Alice Springs is seeking a skilled and motivated music instructor to deliver high-quality teaching and learning programs for students from Foundation to Year 12.

About the Role:

• Plan, prepare and execute effective teaching and learning strategies to cater to diverse student needs and abilities.
• Coordinate activities with school staff and the wider community to provide instrumental, ensemble and choral tuition.
• Develop and maintain supportive learning environments and positive behaviour management practices.
• Regularly assess students and report on their progress to parents, the department and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Deliver engaging teaching and learning programs that meet the characteristics, needs and learning styles of students.
2. Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance.
3. Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents and the local community.
4. Contribute to the development and implementation of music education policies and programs.

Selection Criteria:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in music and education or demonstrated music teaching skills to a comparable level.
• Ability to plan, prepare and deliver teaching and learning programs that meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students.
• Knowledge of effective teaching and learning processes, including the use of technology and assessment.

Requirements:

• Registration with the Teachers Registration Board of the Northern Territory.
• A current Working with Children Notice (Ochre Card) from SAFE NT.
• An NT Drivers License.
