Curriculum Committee Role

We are seeking an experienced educator to serve on our Mathematics Curriculum Committee. The successful candidate will collaborate with subject area administrators to evaluate instructional materials and develop relevant curriculum documents aligned to state and national standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate educational resources and recommend approval or rejection;
  • Develop and implement curriculum documents that meet established standards;
  • Participate in professional development to enhance knowledge and skills necessary for committee work;
  • Collaborate with subject area administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of curriculum changes;
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and administration regarding committee decisions and recommendations.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Hold a valid New York State teaching certification;
  • Be currently employed as a tenured teacher within the Buffalo Public Schools district;
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of the Common Core Learning Standards and Next Generation Learning Standards for Mathematics;
  • Either be actively teaching mathematics, working as a Support Math Teacher (SMT), working as a Coach, or working as a department TOSA.


Appointment Process:

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon recommendation from the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials, and evaluation of service. Personal interviews may be scheduled where appropriate.
