The Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) Risk Team plays a crucial role in delivering cohesive risk management that promotes sustainable business growth through thorough oversight of financial and non-financial risk profiles. This is achieved by (i) ensuring swift and efficient customer credit decisions; (ii) enhancing our portfolio risk management capabilities to proactively address key and emerging risks; and (iii) clarifying accountability through streamlined processes and risk governance.
We are in search of a driven professional to join the WPB Risk team in Australia as a Lead Analyst, Secured Risk Management. This position is primarily responsible for delivering the analytical expertise and technical skills necessary to assist the Senior Manager, Secured Portfolio & Lending Risk in monitoring and optimizing the mortgage portfolio's performance, automated decision-making strategies, and credit policies. The role involves proactively identifying opportunities to enhance portfolio performance and profitability.
Extensive experience in mortgage analytics and automated credit decision-making strategies is essential.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing and analyzing the mortgage portfolio and related insights through risk-based analytics. Proactively identifying potential high-risk areas and consistently monitoring and reporting portfolio performance to key stakeholders. Supervising the development and assessment of mortgage models to ensure optimal performance. Providing technical, data, and portfolio expertise to support provisioning and stress testing processes. Managing the workflow and priorities of the analytical resources within the Secured Risk Team and fostering the development of Analysts. Collaborating closely with Regional & Global Risk Teams to ensure adherence to guidelines and the introduction of best practices. Overseeing the review and enhancement of all mortgage-related Risk Management Information. Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and audit requirements, including identifying implications of changes in regulatory reporting.To excel in this role, you will need:
A degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related business field. Significant experience in mortgage risk analytics and portfolio management within a retail banking context, with a comprehensive understanding of the Australian housing market. Strong analytical capabilities and a thorough understanding of credit scoring and automated decision-making systems. Proven leadership skills in a data-driven and analytical environment. A successful track record in stakeholder engagement. A proactive mindset and the ability to work autonomously.Preference will be given to candidates with Australian Permanent Residency or Citizenship, New Zealand Citizenship, or those who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia.
