Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated GIS professional to join our Information Technology team in our Western Sydney HQ. The successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise in the delivery of GIS and IT-based projects as required. This role will be critical in supporting the GIS Manager in the development of our Vegetation Asset Management system. The position is a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain critical business solutions using GIS technologies, including GeoServer, ESRI, and ArcGIS.
  • Design and implement web mapping applications and web services using multiple GIS technologies.
  • Collaborate with the GIS Manager to develop and implement the Vegetation Asset Management system.
  • Provide technical expertise in the interpretation and editing of geospatial vector data.
  • Develop and implement solutions using Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server Spatial databases.
  • Work with the business to identify and capture operational requirements for integration to developed systems.
  • Perform with minimal supervision in a high-paced environment and demonstrate a 'Can Do' attitude.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Spatial Science (at a minimum), Degree qualified in Geography, Environmental Science, or GIS, or relevant comparable experience.
  • Extensive experience developing web mapping applications and web services using multiple GIS technologies.
  • Strong back-end.NET and/or Java development skills.
  • Ability to code and script with OpenLayers, JavaScript, Python, AngularJS, CSS, HTML5, XML, and SQL.
  • Demonstrated Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server Spatial database experience.
  • Demonstrated Amazon Web Services and/or Microsoft Azure experience.
  • Demonstrated capability in the interpretation and manipulation of geospatial imagery data.
  • Demonstrated capability in the processing and interpretation of LiDAR data.
  • Understanding of geodetic datums and map projections.
