The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners seeks a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Library Director to join our team. As a key member of our library operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Norwell Public Library, ensuring the delivery of exceptional library services to our patrons.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the library circulation staff and operations, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Assist the Library Director with budgeting, personnel management, materials acquisitions, facilities management, and other library functions.
- Manage the library in the absence of the Director and provide on-call support for after-hours emergencies.
- Perform administrative duties, including weekly payroll, invoices, staff scheduling, and a monthly financial report.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot library technology, including hardware and software.
- Provide technology assistance and training to library staff and patrons.
- Cover service desks as needed.
- Bachelor's degree; a Master's Degree in Library Science accredited by the American Library Association is highly desired.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive professional experience in varied library work, including at least one (1) year of supervisory or administrative experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of professional library work, library materials, and current trends in library services.
- Demonstrated technological knowledge and training, excellent writing skills, organizational/evaluation skills, and business management practices.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff, patrons, and others.
