Cyber Defense Analyst

1. Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), firewalls, and other security logs to identify potential security incidents and threats
2. Investigate security incidents and identify root causes
3. Analyze and respond to security alerts and incidents in a timely and efficient manner
4. Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
5. Develop and maintain incident response plans and procedures
6. Participate in the implementation of security controls and measures to protect our network and systems
7. Provide guidance and support to junior SOC analysts
8. Stay current with emerging security threats and technologies
9. Monitor the security access and report probable cyberattacks
10. Perform risk analysis to find any vulnerability that can have an impact on the company
11. Create reports that will allow experts to make changes in the security policies as per the needs of the organization
12. Come up with improvement strategies for better company security

1. Understanding of security tools and technologies such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and antivirus software
2. Curiosity about incident response, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing
3. Understanding of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS
4. Willingness to learn scripting languages such as Python, Go, or PowerShell
5. Analytical and problem-solving skills
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
8. Strong attention to detail
9. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a shifting work environment
10. Knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and cloud applications
11. Curiosity about malware analysis and forensic techniques
12. Ability to analyze and interpret security logs and other data
13. Familiarity with cloud computing and virtualization technologies

1. 2+ years of Linux/Unix, Mac and Windows system analysis experience
2. Programming experience
3. Willingness to study for cyber security examinations
4. Experience working in a large enterprise and management of a wide range of security tools such as IDS/IPS (network and host), advanced anti-malware (network and endpoint), DLP, encryption, anti-virus, firewalls, identity management, NAC, etc.
5. Familiarity with security standards NIST Cyber Security Framework, NIST SP800-61 R2 and ISO/IEC 27035
6. Curiosity about security threats, cyber threat intelligence, and vulnerabilities,
7. Knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux based operating systems
8. Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills
9. Travel is at a minimum, but some domestic and international travel is required
10. Must be willing to work non-traditional hours which may occur over weekends and holidays in support of incidents as needed
11. Exceptional ability to remain calm under stress
12. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and a government security clearance if requested
13. Strong sense of moral character, high-ethical standards, servant-leader and accountability
