General Farm Assistant

This role involves working in a poultry environment where dust and the smell of livestock is present.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with live and deceased birds, handling animals gently and compassionately. They will be a team player who is physically fit and able to handle heavy lifting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete tasks as directed by verbal or written instructions and any necessary paperwork
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on time
  • Assist with setting up sheds for bird reception
  • Unload birds under the direction of the manager or supervisor
  • Accurately count and record mortalities
  • Remove dead birds and complete relevant paperwork according to procedures
  • Monitor shed conditions and report any issues
  • Grade eggs and complete relevant paperwork based on training procedures
  • Perform duties in accordance with established training procedures
  • Catch and load birds safely, considering animal welfare at all times
  • Assist in cleaning and disinfecting sheds
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Comfortable working in a livestock environment
  • No history of asthma or dust allergies
  • Physically fit and capable of performing labor-intensive tasks
  • Able to follow strict Bio Security protocols
