Job Title: Production Planner

This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient management of inventory levels to meet customer delivery expectations for various products. The successful candidate will work closely with the sales, estimating, production, and supplier teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Action purchasing requirements and ERP action items in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Liaise with sales, estimating, production, and suppliers to ensure procured items are correct and received in a timely fashion.
  • Expedite and schedule supplier orders to meet or exceed demand.
  • Execute warehouse/workshop consumables requirements.
  • Identify and evaluate supplier alternatives and monitor pricing and delivery performance.
  • Support quality control efforts.
  • Process, file, and archive purchasing paperwork.
  • Contribute to pricing evaluations.
  • Liaise with middle and senior levels of suppliers.
Planner Function:
  • Oversee ERP, MPS, and demand planning requirements.
  • Create part numbers and routes to enable processing of customer requirements.
  • Maintain current methods of manufacture and BOMs.
  • Responsible for job traveller creation and paperwork process flow for manufacturing.
  • Assist in monitoring delivery performance.
  • Issue materials to jobs daily.
  • Close out jobs in a timely fashion and raise/investigate variances with the production supervisor.
  • Direct expediting and scheduling to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Advise and liaise with sales, inside sales, and customer service/project managers on urgent inventory and short lead time requirements.
  • Liaise with middle and senior levels of suppliers and company personnel.
  • Support quality control efforts and record keeping.
  • Own inventory, ensuring cycle counts are done weekly and inventory is accurate.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Adaptability to handle various requirements and demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good organisation, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Initiative to review own and other activities to find ways to improve efficiency, accuracy, and service delivery.

  • At least 3 years of experience with ERP systems.

  • Willingness to learn and undergo job-specific training.
