Job Title: Senior Physiotherapist - Emergency Department Specialist

As a senior physiotherapist, you will play a vital role in the Allied Health Rapid Assessment, Intervention and Discharge – Emergency Department (RAID-ED) Team. Your primary responsibility will be to prevent hospital admissions from the Emergency Department and facilitate early discharges through timely allied health multidisciplinary intervention.

This role requires an individual with extensive clinical experience in physiotherapy, particularly in the emergency department and/or as a primary contact practitioner treating challenging patients with chronic and complex conditions. You must also possess excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders at all organisational levels.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in physiotherapy
  • Extensive postgraduate clinical experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and demonstrated core competency skills in cardiorespiratory, orthopaedic, gerontology, and neurological physiotherapy
  • Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes, as well as lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff
  • Capacity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with novel, complex or critical situations
  • Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and teaching, including clinical supervision and teaching of undergraduate/graduate entry level students
