About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished professional with a passion for engineering excellence and a track record of delivering impactful solutions. As the ideal candidate, you will lead the development of mechanical components for electrical products and accessories from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, product managers, and manufacturing teams, to ensure seamless integration of design elements.
  • Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using CAD software.
  • Perform simulations and analyses to ensure product performance, safety, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversee prototype development and testing, incorporating feedback to refine designs.
  • Evaluate and select materials and manufacturing processes to optimize cost, quality, and sustainability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical design issues during the development and production phases.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in mechanical design for electrical products or appliances.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (preferably Solidworks).
  • Strong knowledge of design for manufacturability and assembly of plastic parts and sheet metal components.
  • Ability to perform engineering analyses (e.g. Tolerance Stack Analysis, DFMEA, RCA) to ensure product performance, identifying issues and fixing them.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and ASNZS standards relevant to the electrical industry.
  • Knowledgeable in Design of Experiments to properly validate design concepts.
