Job Title: Medical Coordinator

The role of a Medical Coordinator is to provide administrative support in a medical setting. Key responsibilities include greeting patients, collecting and entering personal details, managing waiting rooms, processing patient admissions, and scheduling further appointments.

Key Responsibilities:

">
  • Manage front reception and practice duties.
  • Work as part of an administration team to support doctors daily.
  • Rotate duties of front reception and doctor reception, rotating early and late shifts.
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to enquiries.
  • Book new patient referrals, prepare daily clinics, and send referral reminders.
  • Triage referrals to on-site specialists.
  • Collect and enter patient information, manage waiting rooms, and process patient admissions.
  • Schedule further appointments for doctors and clinic appointments.
  • Set up consulting rooms, prepare paperwork for appointments, and manage incoming/outgoing mail.
  • Organise theatre/hospital bookings and allied health referrals.
  • Manage patient billing and debtor management.
  • Support WHS Officers and committees to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
  • Model and promote the company's vision and values.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar role in Day Oncology/Haematology desirable but not necessary.
  • Medical Secretary experience within a specialist setting also desirable.
  • Experience with Medicare, DVA, and Private Health Insurance.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written.
  • Ability to use computer systems - competence required in Word and Excel.
  • Deliver excellent client service (to internal and/or external clients).
  • Possess basic knowledge of medical terminology.
