Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled Merchandise Planner to become an integral part of our Merchandise team on a fixed-term contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and convey actionable insights regarding trading performance to formulate strategies and in-season tactical initiatives aimed at enhancing financial outcomes.
- Collaboratively oversee and comprehend inventory health, including supplier performance and allocation recommendations to maximize returns.
- Engage in strategic initiatives, analyze past performance, and prepare forward-looking financial plans, including budgeting.
- Manage promotional and discontinued stock, assess lifecycle performance, and analyze promotional results to make informed recommendations and take necessary actions.
- Foster strong relationships with business partners and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the buying team on range evaluations and merchandise concept trials to ensure the broadest selection and optimal experience for our customers.
- Communicate results, actions, and implications to leadership, driving the formal monthly financial reporting process.
- Conduct range assessments, evaluate assortment performance, determine optimal space utilization, and enhance clearance outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A tertiary qualification in finance, economics, or commerce is preferred.
- Over 3 years of experience in merchandise planning or a similar role, ideally within a large retail environment.
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
- Strong financial acumen complemented by advanced numeracy and analytical skills.
- Accountability in seasonal planning, budgeting, and category management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, with advanced Excel and data analytics capabilities (experience with Power BI is advantageous).
- Excellent communication skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Experience with IBM TM1 COGNOS.
