About the Role

As a Child Mental Health Specialist with the Queensland Government, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of young people enrolled at Keebra Park State High School and Ashmore State School. You will work within the school environment, under the leadership and guidance of regional office-based clinical supervisors, to provide quality school-based mental health care and early intervention for students.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified psychologist to join our dynamic and innovative Wellbeing Workforce team in the South East Region. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing therapeutic interventions, advice on diagnoses, and monitoring student progress. You will also coordinate or assist in the implementation of professional training programs for teachers, parents, and other professionals.

The role is offered on a temporary full-time basis and involves relieving at level at Keebra Park State High School and Ashmore State School for the whole of Term 2, 2025 (unless otherwise determined). To be successful in this role, you will require excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively in a team environment, and a passion for promoting the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake individual and group counselling and therapeutic interventions with students, parents, and families
  • Provide advice on diagnoses provided by external professionals and monitor students' progress
  • Administer specialised psycho-educational assessments of students with learning and/or adjustment difficulties
  • Coordinate or assist in the implementation of specific professional in-service training programs for teachers, parents, schools, and other professionals
