Claims Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Analyst to join our team at Lismore City Council. As a key member of our Flood Restoration Portfolio, you will play a critical role in reviewing and managing contractual claims, ensuring accurate and fair settlements for our community.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with the Contracts Manager to review and revise processes and claims.
- Responsible for dissecting complex claim information, verifying the validity of claims through thorough investigations, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve accurate and fair settlements.
- Liaise with Contractors to ensure compliant claims, including investigating and following up to provide evidence/documentation for the claim.
- Foster solid and trust-based relationships with all parties and stakeholders, creating a network of collaboration and understanding.
- Review, assess, and follow up on documents, ensuring that every decision aligns with legal standards and Council values.
- Facilitate and contribute to positive contractor relations, including resolving disputes arising from claims and working towards fair settlements.
- The proven ability to understand complex information and work under government legislative frameworks.
- Excel and mathematical skills, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to pick up information quickly and accept on-the-job feedback.
- The ability to read and interpret contracts in an infrastructure environment.
- Excellent computer skills/the ability to learn new systems.
- Respond to queries efficiently and professionally.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to be resilient and handle complex and sensitive inquiries.
- Experienced with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
