Job Overview:

As a seasoned Mainframe Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting a nationally significant legacy uplift program for a regulatory platform.

  • This is a secure environment where you will ensure the stability, performance, and compliance of mission-critical applications hosted on mainframe infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support IBM z/OS mainframe systems, including capacity planning, performance tuning, and system upgrades.
  • Administer ADABAS environments: installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform regular system health checks, batch job monitoring, and system maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain JCL scripts, batch job definitions, and utility jobs for data management.
  • Collaborate with Natural developers, system programmers, and application teams to optimize ADABAS usage.
  • Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for ADABAS databases.
  • Monitor and tune database performance using ADABAS utilities and tools.
  • Participate in change management, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support guides.

Requirements:

  • Experience in mainframe environments, preferably with IBM z/OS systems.
  • Hands-on experience with ADABAS database administration on z/OS or z/VSE.
  • Proficiency in JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and system utilities.
  • Strong understanding of z/OS systems, LPAR configuration, HMC operations, and PARMLIB customization.
  • Familiarity with Natural programming language is a plus.
  • Experience with job scheduling tools (e.g., CA-7, MQ, Control-M) and performance monitoring tools (e.g., OMEGAMON, RMF).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Australian Citizenship with an active Baseline security clearance.
