Job Title: Treatment Operations Manager

Central Highlands Regional Council is seeking a highly skilled Treatment Operations Manager to oversee the operational and maintenance activities of our Council's water and sewer treatment plants, chemical dosing facilities, pump stations, reservoirs, and associated infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering and experience in waste and wastewater treatment. They will be responsible for ensuring compliance with legislative and licensing requirements, planning and managing the operation of water and wastewater treatment plants, and providing technical advice and maintenance direction.

The Treatment Operations Manager will also be responsible for evaluating and optimizing treatment processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness, developing and implementing standard operating procedures, and managing procurement of necessary goods and services for treatment operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily operations and monitoring of treatment facilities
  • Plan and manage the operation of water and wastewater treatment plants
  • Provide technical advice and maintenance direction
  • Evaluate and optimize treatment processes
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures
  • Manage procurement of necessary goods and services

Requirements:

  • Minimum Cert III in Treatment Operations or AQF Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of at least two (2) years of highly relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in waste and wastewater treatment
  • Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of water and sewerage pump stations and raw water supply systems
  • Knowledge of relevant Local Government operations and legislative framework
  • Time management, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft suite programs
