Job Summary

TheirCare is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to manage and process end-to-end payroll, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies. This role involves assisting in financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, financial reporting, and reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end fortnightly payroll process, including calculating employee pay, processing electronic payments, and handling holiday, sick, maternity, and paternity leave payments.
  • Process PAYG deductions, send payroll information to the ATO, and obtain and verify direct debit banking information, tax file numbers, and superannuation details from employees.
  • Check timesheets within HumanForce to verify rostered hours and contracted hours are complete, and develop and review payroll policies and procedures to ensure they remain current and fit for purpose.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports, and distribute fortnightly payslips to employees.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding of employees, and be involved in new payroll system implementation.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure all payroll aspects are compliant with the national law and regulations, including the Fair Work Act and National Employment Standards (NES).
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the Children's Services Award MA000120, Single Touch Payroll (STP), and Payroll tax reporting.
  • Ensure Superannuation Guarantee compliance and increases are applied, and calculate Annual leave, Personal Leave, and LSL.
  • Workcover compliance in relevant States, and ensure all workcover requirements are submitted timely, including annual wage declarations and estimations.

Requirements

  • A clear understanding of payroll laws, taxes, and PAYG procedures.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, including active listening, for accurately answering employee questions.
  • High-level mathematical skills, and knowledge of economics, accounting, and other financial concepts.
  • Computer literacy, especially confidence using office and payroll software such as Excel with VLOOKUP and MYOB Payroll.
  • Self-motivation and organisational skills to meet deadlines, and initiative and ambition to develop professionally.
