Electrical Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for various projects.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems, including low-voltage and extra-low-voltage (ELV) systems, PLC/telemetry, and instrumentation and control
  • Assist with motor lists, cable sizing, cable schedules, and input/output (IO) lists
  • Prepare electrical schematics, including single-line diagrams, starter schematics, PLC drawings, loop diagrams, interconnecting diagrams, general arrangement, and terminal block diagrams
  • Contribute to technical reports on small to medium projects, including design reports and condition assessment reports
  • Support proposal development and provide technical input for pursuits
  • Produce clear and accurate technical documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Participate in field and desktop investigations of existing electrical infrastructure for capital upgrades
  • Assist in preparing specifications and documentation to support procurement and project delivery
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualifications
  • 2-5 years of experience in an engineering consultancy, contractor, or asset owner environment
  • Exposure to the Water/Wastewater industry preferred, ideally within Australia
  • Working towards Registered Professional Engineer status
  • Familiarity with standards, conceptual and detailed design, and design management of electrical infrastructure
  • Awareness of electrical safety principles, including protection, arc flash, earthing, hazardous areas, and machine safety
  • Experience with modeling software such as PowerCAD or PTW is a plus
  • Ability to interpret authority standards and electrical requirements for greenfield and brownfield projects
  • Strong communication skills with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
  • Willingsness to take on design coordination or project support roles across multiple projects
