Your Role as a Leading Hand

As a Leading Hand, you will be responsible for managing construction activities on site. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in civil construction, excellent leadership skills, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to ensuring that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of construction crews, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to specification.
  • Monitor work progress and ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project plans.
  • Provide on-site leadership and guidance to team members, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with site managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to address issues and resolve conflicts.
  • Oversee the allocation of resources, including materials, equipment, and personnel.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and prepare reports on progress, safety, and any issues encountered.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a leading hand or in a similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of civil construction techniques, safety practices, and project management.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans.
  • Experience using laser levels for alignment, levelling, and surveying.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and guide others.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • A range of civil plant operating tickets (preferred).
