Ferry Operator

Job Description

This is a casual role as a ferry operator. You will be responsible for transporting visitors and residents between Raymond Island and Paynesville on a 7-day roster.

  • Operate the ferry in a safe, timely, and reliable manner.
  • Conduct pre-start vessel checks and daily maintenance to ensure the ferry is clean and hazard-free.
Key Responsibilities

You will be required to:

  • Monitor vehicles and patrons at all times.
  • Collect applicable fares and check ferry passes.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patrons while confidently managing and de-escalating conflict when required.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Victorian recreational marine license with the ability to obtain a Coxswain Grade 3 endorsement.
  • A current First Aid and CPR Certificate (HLTAID011 and HLTAID009).
  • A current, valid Victorian driver's licence.
Preferred Skills

Candidates with the following skills will be looked upon favourably:

  • Control traffic with a stop-slow bat.
  • Knowledge of the McMillan Strait and varying sea conditions.
  • Marine engineering knowledge.
