About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Cyber Security Engineer to join our dynamic team focused on safeguarding essential infrastructure from cyber threats. This role offers the chance to lead the development of secure environments, maintain cutting-edge security tools, and work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure system integrity and resilience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and optimize cyber security monitoring and analysis toolsets to detect and respond to emerging threats effectively.
  • Design and implement cyber security architecture through collaboration with ICT teams to ensure robust and secure systems.
  • Provide expertise in endpoint protection, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and other security technologies.
  • Manage security services in the cloud environment (Azure or AWS).
  • Conduct in-depth security administration for Windows, Linux, networking, and related systems.
  • Support the team during critical events by responding to incidents and ensuring business continuity.
About You:

We're looking for a Cyber Security Engineer with:

  • Essential Skills:
    • Expertise in Sentinel or similar SIEM solutions.
    • Comprehensive understanding of the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM).
    • Advanced experience with endpoint protection, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
    • Strong proficiency in Windows, Linux, and system/network administration.
    • Hands-on experience with cloud security services (Azure or AWS).
  • Desirable Skills:
    • Experience in cyber security monitoring within, or for, federal government entities.
    • Demonstrated capability in cyber incident response and threat remediation.
Salary and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this position is between $120,000 and $180,000 per year, depending on experience. Additional benefits include competitive conditions, including opportunities for professional development and extended contract options.

  • Negative Vetting Level 1 clearance (or the ability to obtain).
  • Ability to work on-site with flexibility for critical shifts, including periods during key operational events.
  • Commitment to political neutrality and a clean character record (including police clearance).
