Electrical Testing Specialist

The Position

As an Electrical Testing Specialist, you will be responsible for executing scheduled programmed maintenance in a safe and cost-effective manner. You will work with our Maintenance Team Leader to maintain, repair, and perform fault finding diagnosis on electrical distribution systems.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Maintain, repair, and perform fault finding diagnosis on electrical distribution systems, including operational switching, testing, and maintenance.
  2. Write, verify, and perform switching procedures, including issuance of Access and Test permits.
  3. Prepare, verify, and issue documentation related to electrical systems.
  4. Protect relays secondary injection testing, Primary HV asset periodic and breakdown testing, and commissioning new electrical network installations and extensions.
  5. Respond to electrical network faults during and outside normal business hours.
  6. Identify secondary system protection faults, analyze alarms, and protection system abnormalities.
  7. Identify preventative maintenance opportunities to maximize network reliability.

You'll Bring

  • Demonstrated experience in senior test technician exposure and complex electrical protection schemes IEC 61850 GOOSE.
  • Mentoring and knowledge sharing with other technicians.
  • Proficient in software test universe and primary test manager.
  • Secondary system isolations and protection relay software (ABB PCM600 desirable).
  • Diagnostic, technical, PC, and equipment failure analysis.
  • Variable speed drives and motors.
  • Operational switching, testing, and maintenance on electrical assets.
  • Switchgear, substations, overhead, and underground distribution systems.
