Postdoctoral Research Associate in Megaproject Systems

This is a two-year full-time opportunity to contribute to a research stream focused on intelligent sensing and control frameworks for megaprojects.

The appointee will work under the supervision of Dr. Wanchun Liu, advancing AI-driven decision-making in future megaprojects by conducting high-quality research in intelligent sensing and control for complex project environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct cutting-edge research in dynamic modelling and simulation of megaproject systems
  • Develop and implement advanced AI-based algorithms, including GNNs and deep reinforcement learning techniques
  • Design and simulate novel models of megaproject systems to inform decision-making processes
  • Prepare and submit high-impact journal articles to prominent publications
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers across engineering, management, and AI disciplines
  • Supervise or mentor research students, where appropriate, to develop their skills in AI-driven megaproject research
Requirements:
  • PhD or near-completed PhD in one of the following fields: project Management, Systems Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or closely related disciplines
  • Demonstrated expertise in AI/ML algorithm development, dynamic modelling, and simulation of complex systems
  • Proficiency in Python and related computational toolchains, including data analytics and visualization tools
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research bridging project governance, systems thinking, and intelligent control approaches
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and disseminate research findings
